Hello!

We are two chill artsy ppl in our thirties (& a 3 year old cat 🐈‍⬛) seeking two new roomies (potential for a third roomie as well, making a 5-person house) starting September 1st for our shared, “co-op lite” house.

The House

It’s in close proximity to Green Lake (~15 min walk), multiple grocery stores, coffee shops, etc. Very close to the highway and light rail. Has a driveway that can fit two cars & free street parking out front. We have a bike rack inside, space for 1 bike per roomie.

It’s a large (1900sq ft) two story home with two kitchens, 2.5 bathrooms, plenty of shared living spaces - living room, sunny dining/art space, downstairs TV den that can double as a guest bedroom. We have a huge backyard with garden beds, a sheltered patio, a large deck, big lawn, fire pit. We have wonderful neighbors. Our landlord is very hands-off.

The Rooms

One downstairs room - 2 windows (house is on a hill so it’s like, sort of a basement sort of not?). Has its own half-bathroom. $685

One upstairs room - a little smaller than the other rooms, but has huge windows + tons of natural light! $675

The People

Landon (he/him) - friendly & quiet, works for a local non-profit (often early mornings & late evenings, especially in the summer), musician, grows beans. Likes to play music quite loud sometimes but is respectful of quiet hours & ppl’s noise tolerance. Currently rents two rooms but probably downsizing to one soon.

Chey (they/them) - lil rascal who loves community, silliness, plants, treats. Neurosparkly artist/musician eking out an art life in a harsh wurld. Texas transplant. Currently recovering from a big ole burnout working in a techy gov job, dreaming up a gentler path forward.

You’ll be a great fit if:

-You’re excited about shared dinners, movie nights, garden work days, and other social activities around the house

-You’re communal and used to living in shared spaces

-You’re a direct communicator and can navigate conflict with a positive + calm mindset

-You like kitties and would love to live with one! (sorry, we can’t accept any other pets at this time–cat’s rules)

What to expect:

-The only currently shared expenses are utilities/internet (approx $150/month on avg), we are potentially open to sharing food expenses if that’s of interest to you!

-We do share labor around the house–the back yard requires upkeep about once per month (if you’re a gardener we are also always able to offer a lil’ plot that you can do whatever you like with 🙂) We do a big house-wide deep clean twice per year (spring/winter).

-Chore schedules are decided on an upstairs/downstairs basis and have taken different forms in the past (with the current configuration, if you were to move into the downstairs room, you can expect a weekly chore chart – super basic stuff like sweeping, vacuuming, wiping counters– adding up to a total of about 1-2 hours of labor per week; upstairs TBD)

-We love to do house dinners/events and are open to scheduling these together up to once per week. We recognize folks get busy but we want to live with social ppl and make new pals, especially during the long dark.

- Alcohol & Trees okay–no smoking or vaping indoors

-We aren’t big partiers, but we do like to host often, and will occasionally go all out for certain celebrations

-We have lots of musician friends and love to offer our home as a crash pad for the weary 😴

-We strive to be an anti-racist, anti-fascist, disability justice oriented, LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive house; we recognize we can always do better and commit to continued work

- We continue to prioritize COVID-19 safety at a moderate risk level on average (housemates have varying levels of cautiousness); we do ask that you’re willing to home-test when covid is a possibility, and if the result is positive, to alert all roomies ASAP + mask in common spaces with an N-95 or better

The rent here is a pretty good deal for Seattle, and because of that, we welcome lower income folks, artists and creatives, and anyone who has had systemic barriers to housing access 🌱
